TRYOUTS ARE FAST APPROACHING!  MEET THE NYH ELITE COACHES!

Over the past decade, NYH has grown exponentially, and we are happy to announce that next season we will be offering a full spectrum of age and playing level options. Following Navy Youth Hockey’s ladder of development, the Program focuses on long-term player growth and will include combined skills sessions and dedicated team practices. Each team will build off the skills learned from the prior cohort, eventually preparing players for the Navy Elite Program. The Navy Elite Program (new this year) offers our U14/U16 skaters enhanced on and off-ice training, preparing them for the highest level of competition. Please click the link above for further detail.

Additionally, for the first time in our history, NYH will offer teams who will compete across any one of three leagues either locally or regionally. NYH is now a member of the CCHL (Capital Corridor Hockey League), the CBHL (Chesapeake Bay Hockey League), and the EJEPL (Eastern Junior Elite Prospects League).

Introducing our NYH Elite Coaching Staff for the 2019-2020 Season!

U16 Elite
Birth Years – 2004-2003
Coach – Paul Fritz (NYH Hockey Director)

Most recently, Fritz held the position as Hockey Director for Chevy Chase and was a coach and head of Strength and Conditioning at Team Maryland and Montgomery Youth Hockey.  At the Tier I level, Fritz lead several teams to first place finishes in the AAA AYHL and USA Hockey Southeast District Championships.

Paul has been working with youth athletes (ages 8-18) for the past 10 years and has helped many amateur athletes transform into elite professionals, with several trainees who advanced to play college hockey and lacrosse – including players at the NCAA Division I and NHL level.

Coach Fritz played his youth hockey for the Tier I AAA Washington Little Caps, before moving onto play prep hockey at the famed Canterbury School in New England. He moved into junior hockey and professional inline hockey before suffering a career-ending back injury.

Paul’s injury was the catalyst to developing his personal and professional focus on coaching. It also stimulated his belief in helping athletes understand the importance of proper conditioning, strength training and injury prevention as part of the whole athlete development process.

Coach Fritz holds the following certifications: CSAC, ISSA-SN, FMS Level 1 and is a USA Hockey Level 4 Coach. He has also worked extensively with Dr. Jonas Rudzki of Washington Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.
